Event overview
This RFID working group meeting will be a chance for retailers to share practical experiences and solutions to the known operational challenges associated with executing perfectly RFID deployments in stores.
Topics will include how to improve read accuracy, and work towards inventory counts that are consistently reliable, the latest initiatives to reducing RF interference, particularly in store areas where RFID readers perform inconsistently due to shelving, fixtures, or environmental conditions such as neighbouring stores. Then, tag performance, as different products and packaging types often behave differently and affect scan reliability. Then there is the challenge of integrating RFID data with existing inventory, POS, and order management systems, where delayed or noisy data can undermine operational confidence. Finally, the group will explore strategies for improving operational adoption, including staff training, process consistency, and store-level accountability.
To kick start the conversation, one retailer who has been deploying RFID for over five years will share their experiences, and a “live” and current problem with one of their top stores where shrink has just incredulously increased sixfold at the last stock take, with no clear explanation, with most of the possible reasons ruled out.
Currently, “phantom” inventory reappearing is their leading hypotheses but it is just that, still a theory vs proven explanation. After the case study presentation the group will discuss this case and share back what they are learning about how to tackle their own operational challenges associated with executing RFID in their business, post deployment.
This meeting is for retailers, brand owners and academics only
