Description
In 2024, several grocery retailers shared that their trials with RFID in the fresh meat / protein category, had been very positive, highly accurate read rates, significant possible productivity improvements and new insights on supply chain accuracy.
We also heard about the challenge of "on-boarding" multiples, often in the hundreds, of suppliers, especially in the fresh category. Some of these suppliers may even be local to just one store. Securing "source tagging" was recognised as being a big challenge.
For these reasons, a couple of retailers shared that they were trialling RFID in the made in the store production categories, bakery, butchery, ready to go, etc. The potential here could be significant productivity savings. If augmented with 2d bar codes, the benefits could extend to forecasting, production plans and compliance, and never selling an item past its expiry date.
In this years meeting, we hope to hear updates from the retailers who previously shared their trial results, what happened next? And then other grocery retailers who are also exploring the use of RFID in their business.
This meeting is for retailers, producers and academics only
