Description

RFID: Lessons from Deployment in Retail

How do retailers go from "why don't we try RFID? as an open question from the CEO to the store wide deployment of RFID?

A great question packed full of many choices and open questions, including the task of exploring what problems RFID can address, the size of the prize, the investigation of the different technology and vendor choices, reaching an agreement as to where in the business the OPEX and CAPEX budgets will sit, the ROI criteria and thinking through what expertise is required and how to go about building the capacity to run the project, etc. And this is by no means an exhaustive list!

In this meeting, three to four retailers who have already deployed RFID across all of their stores will share how they tested, piloted and then rolled out RFID, the key lessons they learnt, what would they have done differently if they had to do it all again, what were the unforeseen problems and surprise benefits, and then their results or said a different way, what would happen to the business if they now stopped the RFID programme? Finally, each will share where they are headed next on RFID, new formats, new use cases, new techs, overhead readers, etc.

After the presentations, the other retailers will share back their questions, comments, their takeaways and then their own "builds" to these learnings.

This meeting is for retailers, brand owners and academics only.
