Description

Training Security Guards - Latest Retailer Practices

Our recent survey on security guards completed by forty two retailers (Europe, USA and Australia) found that 40% of the retailers did NOT offer any additional training for their third party security guards.

Of those that reported that they offered some form of additional training, over 60% shared that this was via e-learning Vs practical in-person class room training.

Yet it's clear that the expectations, the typical day and the skills needed to be a successful guard in a retail store is going to be very different to that same guarding role in a shopping mall, music festival, sports event, etc, context.

This meeting will explore the role and extent of training for third party security guards for retail. It will start with a presentation from Tesco, who will share their approaches to training and the investments they have put behind training their third party security guards, and the benefits they have been able to realise.

Retailers will then comment and discuss this learning from Tesco (what was new, different, etc) and then share back their own latest thinking.

This meeting will be ideal for all those in positions at retailers from all parts of the world with the oversight for the design of the guarding model and then those charged with the execution of the model, and daily supervision of the guarding capability.

This working group meeting is for retailers, producers and academics only
