There is a clear trade off in fuel retailing, take the risk of allowing customers to fuel and then pay inside the shop OR insist that the customer pays for the fuel before filling up. But can technology, such as ANPR, digital reporting and data sharing close the gap?

In the 2025 meetings we learnt how the use of ANPR technology, improved reporting and more effective civil recovery capabilities, often third party, is delivering very strong results, in one retailer example, by 51%.

For retailers, there are still remaining challenges, cloned vehicles, store associate compliance, data quality, DVLA access and getting the business to prioritise and sign off on the investment.

In this meeting, we will hear updates from each of the retailers participating in this meeting, and the new developments and achievements twelve months on from the last meeting of this group.
