Event overview
Spot checks have become an important control at self-checkout at some retailers, in some countries but are retailers using them in the most effective way? Do they genuinely reduce loss and encourage more accurate scanning, or can poorly designed checks simply add friction for customers and workload for colleagues?
In this meeting, we will hear new research on these questions, and the opportunity to move from random to targeted spot checks. After the presentation of the findings, there will be a discussion on the key learning points, and debate on future of spot checks: random versus targeted selection; full basket versus partial checks; the signals that should trigger an intervention; how checks influence shopper behaviour; and how we design controls that reduce loss without unnecessarily damaging the customer experience. Are we checking enough—or do we simply need to check smarter?
This meeting is for retailers, CPG’s and academics only.
