Event overview
In this meeting of the food waste working group we will launch new research that will ask the question, how do you get better at knowing the age of the inventory on your shelves?
In the first part of the meeting, we will hear from retailers and their current approaches to answering the questions, how “old” is the product that I can see from the system should be on the shelf, and when will it expire [where I will then need to remove from shelf, apply a markdown discount, etc] – we are expecting to hear from retailers tracking batch codes, adopting ledger based systems that can prompt stores JUST the products that need to be discounted, or using “grabbing behaviour” to get better data for their replenishment systems, and then there are the retailers who are using RFID and QR codes that go beep to “see” the age of the inventory.
The meeting will close with the launch of new research project, lead by Sara Sofia Martins from the University of Porto, sharing the research objectives, and then how retailers can participate in what will be a breakthrough study.
This meeting is for retailers, producers and academics only.
