Description

Food Waste: Exploring Store Colleague Donation Programmes

Can't be done, it will get abused, tried that before it causes more problems than it solves, cannot see how our business would agree to that, no, no, no.....

These are the typical responses to the question, does your business donate food near its expiry date to store colleagues? Yet, for those retailers who have opened up store colleague donation programmes, it has proven [eventually] to be a great success, accounting for circa 15-20% of all the food that had to be either donated to humans, animals, sent for anaerobic digestion or to land fill.

In this meeting, we will hear from 2-3 retailers and how they have managed to implement a store colleague donation programme, and the guard rails and controls they have put in place to minimise the risk of abuse. Other retailers will then share their questions, comments and their own learnings.

This meeting is for retailers, CPG's and academics only.
