Description

Self Checkout - Lessons from Retailers on Hybrid SCO's

In our annual review of the emergence of the hybrid SCO, retailers in the group will share the unique challenges of controlling losses including but not limited to:

  • How many SCO hosts should we plan for? 1 for every 2, 3, 4, etc.
  • How do we communicate to the shopper what essentially becomes a very dynamic front end operation?
  • How do we ensure that the hardware is built to last and not prone to being "high maintenance"?
  • How do we leverage and adapt existing loss prevention controls such as video monitors, weight controls, product recognition, scan avoidance, etc?
  • And what about taking cash, are we ok to forego up to 7% extra participation and not accept cash and go card only?

And more, accessibility, shopper behaviours, etc. As per the previous meetings on hybrid SCO's, we will start the meeting with the learnings from the retailers in the group deploying hybrid SCO's and then hear updates from others in the working group.

This is a retailer, CPG and academic meeting only
