Description
In 2024, we learnt from the secretariat of the programme (WRI) that 74 percent of the companies in the 10x20x30 initiative have set a public food loss and waste baseline against which they can measure their progress. Some 54 percent of them companies have measured and publicly reported multiple years of food loss and waste data, where the average reduction in food loss and waste among those companies who are reporting their food loss and waste data in the public domain is 15.4 percent.
So, while this is better than industry average, with the goal being to halve food waste by 2030, there is a long way to go.
In this annual meeting, producers and retailers will share their plans to achieve this target, and will focus their updates on how each actor is helping the other actor achieve a shared reduction in food waste.
For example, how are producers helping to support retailers food waste reduction initiatives in the store, joint forecasting with service level differentiation? Smaller case sizes? New Packaging with extended shelf life benefits, etc.
And vice versa, how have retailers helped producers reduce their food waste, whole crop purchase contracts, changes in quality standards, crop flush programmes, etc.
The working group will reflect and discuss the learnings, and applicability for faster and more scaled deployments of the ideas and concepts that are delivering the greatest benefits across more retailers and producers.
This meeting is for retailers, producers and academics only
