Event overview
Quick commerce, via third party platforms such as Instacart, Deliveroo, Uber Eats, or retailers own platforms, such Whoosh from Tesco, is one of the fastest growing channels in grocery retail, helping stores grow comp sales, selling to new shoppers / supporting new shopping occasions. However, there is growing evidence that shoppers [false] claims for missing items, picking and substitution mistakes and collusion is increasing the unknown loss rates in the stores supporting this proposition, in one example, by up to five percent.
In this discussion, retailers will share their current understanding of the risks associated with this proposition for their business, sharing the extent of the problem, the drivers of loss and how the new and different work processes for picking, despatching and managing the returns from online grocery, create the problems and opportunities for loss. Most of all, we want to hear from the retailers about how they will or are looking at new interventions and controls that can help reduce loss.
We will close with a discussion on a new research study proposal from Professor Michael Townsley
This meeting is for retailers, CPGs and academics only.
